The first words are to express our gratitude for this rare
opportunity to be the head-office of the worldwide mobile
mapping community. The São Paulo State University
and particularly the Faculty of Science and Technology,
established in the campus of Presidente Prudente, are proud
and honored with the distinction of organizing the 6th
International Symposium on Mobile Mapping Technology,
a responsibility to what we were appointed at the end of
the meeting in Padua, Italy, last 2007.

Unesp - acronym for Universidade Estadual Paulista -
is a multi campus public university of the State of São Paulo.
It is effectively present in 23 cities with 32 university
units. Presidente Prudente is the campus for the Faculty
of Science and Technology which has 12 undergraduate programs,
6 graduate programs and 8 departments. The Department of
Cartography is in charge of the specific disciplines of
the cartographic engineering course and of the cartographic
sciences graduate program.

On behalf of the faculty, the staff and the students we
would like to thank the trust demonstrated by the
ISPRS - International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote
Sensing, the IAG - International Association of Geodesy,
the ION - Institute of Navigation and the FIG - Fédération
Internationale des Géomètres when they accepted
to endorse the decision made by the mobile mapping
personalities present in the past symposium. For
the first time the mobile mapping community joins
up at the South Hemisphere during a few winter days.

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) congratulates
with all the authors and co-authors, reviewers,
chairs and co-chairs, sponsors and supporters,
volunteers, participants and professionals
whose work and dedication made this meeting happen.
